MTN Ghana, in partnership with HR Focus, has initiated a push toward prioritization of employee wellness in the workplace at the maiden HR Focus Programme, dubbed HR Mix and Mingle, at the Aviation Social Centre in Accra.
The event, which brought to the fore topical and modern workplace practices and concerns impacting employee productivity, was aimed at creating awareness about initiatives that improve the lifestyles and wellness of employees across various organizations in Ghana. MTN Ghana, having won three awards including the Overall Best organization in HR practice at the last HR Focus Awards, is focused on creating a great place to work and ensuring its employees’ health continues to be their people advantage.
The Human Resources Executive for MTN Ghana, Mrs. Amma Benneh-Amponsah, stated that the wellness awareness partnership with HR Focus was strategically aligned to MTN’s vision for its employees. She gave insights into how employee well-being remains critical to MTN Ghana and shared MTN Ghana’s Wellness Practices established to encourage employees to consider healthy lifestyles and make healthy lifestyle choices.
“At MTN, we have adopted a total wellness programme made up of preventive health initiatives, emotional wellness and financial wellness. MTN’s iconic building, which demonstrates the company's long term investment in Ghana, boasts of a gym, a crèche, a convenient shopping hub, in house occupational therapist and many more lifestyle benefits for employees,” she added.
She urged all HR Practitioners to seize the opportunity to invest in promoting wellness and fitness in the corporate environment in order to promote a productive workforce and enhance positive output.
Dr. Helen Hagan, CEO of L’aine Services, led an interactive session with participants. Some partners at the event provided free health & fitness tips and body massage and this was done by First Choice Hair and Beauty. The Nyaho Medical Centre, Delcielo Optical Services, Allure Spa in the City, Wellink Physiotherapy and C&J Medicare Hospital offered a number of free services based on their specialization.
At the end of the programme, HR Practitioners were encouraged to prioritize preventive health and wellness based on an understanding of the overall wellness needs of their employees.
