A District Chief Executive has appealed Mr. Kingsley Akom, the 2009 National Best Teacher and six other teachers from the Ashanti Region who won awards at this year's National Best Teachers Awards ceremony at Koforidua to work extra hard, having earned national recognition.
This is to prove to Ghanaians that their achievements were no fluke but recognition for hard work and commitment to duty.
Mr. De-graft Forkuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asante Akim South, said this when the national best teacher and his colleague award winners from the Ashanti Region paid a courtesy call on him on their way to Kumasi on Wednesday.
The visit signified their triumphant entry into the region with their prizes as Asante Akim South District serves as gateway to the region.
The DCE said the award winners had made the region proud and urged them to let the awards spur them to greater heights.
He said it was a great joy for the overall best teacher and the first runner-up to have emerged from the region and appealed to other teachers in the region to strive to sustain the achievement in subsequent editions.
Mr. Akom on behalf of his colleagues thanked the DCE for the warm reception and promised to give of their best to raise the standard of education in the region.
