Management of Access Bank (Ghana) Limited on Thursday partnered the National Secretariat of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to set up a Disaster Relief Account (DRA), to source for funding for disaster management.
Mr Yomi Akapo, Country Managing Director of Access Bank, unveiled the account number as 0011620022561 when the financial entity donated items worth GH�5,000 to NADMO towards the upkeep of the recent flood victims in the country.
The items included 30 bags of rice, 30 cartons of cooking oil, blankets and used clothing.
Mr Akapo said the initiative was in line with the bank's co-operate commitment to humanitarian assistance and social interventions in the country.
He said since the bank was inaugurated last year, it had embarked on some social intervention programmes and initiatives including 10,000 dollars donation to the Planning Committee of the Centenary celebration of the birth of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and supported inmates of Teshie Orphanage.
Mr Akapo said the bank would maintain its corporate social responsibility policy in line with the group's strategy in five key areas
namely; Education, Environment, Health, Arts and Sports.
Mr Martin Amidu, Minister of the Interior who received the items on behalf of the victims expressed appreciation to the management for the
gesture.
