Mercedes-Benz, the luxury division of Daimler AG, introduced its new super sports car, the new SLS AMG, in South Korea on Monday.
The vehicle is a modern revival of the automaker's legendary sports car, the 300 SL, with Gullwing doors, which are hinged at the roof rather than the side.
The new SLS AMG comes with a 6.3-liter V8 engine that produces 571 horsepower at its peak. The car has a maximum speed of 317 kilometers per
hour and can reach 100 km/h from zero in just 3.5 seconds, according to Mercedes-Benz Korea Ltd.
"The new SLS AMG is the perfect successor of Mercedes-Benz's legendary 300 SL. We are thrilled to introduce the new SLS AMG that will become a
legend of its own times, opening up an entirely new segment of super sports cars," Harald Behrend, head of Mercedez-Benz Korea, said.
The local price of the new SLS AMG has been set at 260 million won (US$212,000), while that of the aerodynamic SLS AMG Carbon Package carries a price tag of 289 million won.
