The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is to lead a delegation of business executives from Ghana's public and private sectors on an investment promotion mission to Turkey, Middle East, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Iran from June 17 to July 2, this year.
Objective of the mission is to sensitise businesses on the investment potential of Ghana as well as promote investment opportunities in Ghana in the priority sectors including oil and gas services (including Petrochemicals), infrastructure, real estate development, energy,
manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, information and communication technology, financial services and tourism.
These are contained in a statement issued in Accra on Thursday signed by Mr Bennet Elvis Niboi, Head of Marketing and Public Relations of GIPC, and copied to Ghana News Agency.
It said the delegation would follow-up on several enquires and leads from some sovereign wealth funds and individual investors in the regions to be visited on investment opportunities in Ghana.
The statement said "The mission would also provide the avenue for dedicated one-on-one meetings to further explore specific opportunities".
It said that Mr George Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, would lead the delegation to hold business seminars to discuss Ghana's potentials and business opportunities, as well as investment regulations and procedures.
The statement said other members of the delegation include Chief Executive Officers of Ghana Free Zones Board, Ghana Export Promotion
Council, members of Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism, representatives from Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry GNCCI, private sector operators and the media.
It said that while in Iran, the delegation would discuss with competent authorities the modalities for accessing credit facility of 70 million dollars secured by GNCCI during their successful mission to Iran.
The statement said that the mission that secured 70 million dollars was led by Mr Seth Adjei-Baah, Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, and Vice President of GNCCI.
It said in December 2009, Government of Ghana through GIPC and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration successfully negotiated and initialled a Bilateral Investment Treaty with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The treaty among other issues seeks to improve trade and investment relations between both countries.
