Markets Wednesday rebounded, with the BSE benchmark Sensex soaring by over 365 points on
aggressive buying by funds amid firming global trend.
After tanking close to 450 points Tuesday, the 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange regained most of the losses to end the day 365.36 points up at 16,387.84 points.
Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty surged 110.65 points to close at 4,917.40.
The markets commenced higher on firming Asian trend and they got a further boost as European indices too gains in their early trade. Marketmen said buying gathered momentum with investors covering their pending positions ahead of the expiry in the derivatives segment on Thursday.
Among the 30-BSE index components, 24 closed higher and the rest in the red. All sectoral indices, particularly information technology, realty and metal settled up.
The IT sector index with 3.48 per cent gain was the best to performer. Realty sector too rose by 3.01 per cent.
The metal index was up by 2.98 per cent.
