Mr. Henry Van-Hein Sackey, the Area Manager for the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in charge of the northern regions, has said the Trust was putting in place strategies to clear all hurdles associated with workers' pension.
He said this when SSNIT organized a forum on Tuesday in Bolgatanga to throw light on the new pension act.
Mr Sackey said as part of ensuring the scheme is successful, the government has set up a Pension Regulatory Commission to oversee the effective management of SSNIT and to ensure that it operates in conformity with directives from the Pension Regulatory Commission.
He said the Trust had also trained its staff and acquired higher technology that could easily process documents to detect mistakes and correct them.
Mr Sackey said the Trust had placed gatekeepers to monitor and vet documents to check and to ensure that employers' contribution to employees tallied with that of their contribution.
Mr. Sackey said SSNIT would not accept any payment of contribution from employers if their reports including names, social security numbers and amount of contributions among others were not stated clearly in the contribution report.
One of the major problems confronting the payment of SSNIT pension, he said, was wrong names of persons and wrong Social Security numbers and gave the assurance that these problems would be addressed under the New Pension Act.
The Upper East Branch Manager, Mr. Patrick Appah, said under the New Pension Act workers would be given their statements annually.
