Google has become the latest tech giant to announce a new financial product for users - this time, current accounts.
Dr Stephanie Hare, technology researcher and cyber security expert, told BBC Radio 4's Today that she would not be happy with Google having access to financial data.
Google has said it will not use data but "Google and many of the tech companies have a strong track record of saying they wont take data and then you find out they did, sometimes by accident, sometimes deliberately".
She sees it as a process of firms creating an ecosystem "in which their customers would live" but "when does not ecosystem become a cartel".
She ponders the creation of Google Life, or Apple Life, or Amazon Life, where firms run your life.
