An Aide to Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has said the Vice President would naturally be excited by the first round victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the December poll.
"Naturally, Vice will be excited; he is ready to work," the Aide said.
While declining to comment further, the Aide in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) shortly after Dr Kwadwo Afari-Djan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission had declared the results, indicated that the Vice President would prefer to leave any comment to his boss, President John Dramani Mahama, who was declared winner in the December presidential poll.
Incumbent President John Dramani Mahama, who replaced former President John Atta Mills after his death in July, polled 50.7 per cent of the ballots cast -just enough to avoid a run-off with his chief rival Nana Akufo-Addo who had 47.7 on the ticket of the main opposition New Patriotic Party.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur, an Economist and a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, was selected by President Mahama and endorsed by Parliament last August.
He engaged in vigorous campaign that took him to the length and breadth of the country and unfolded a number of policy alternatives on health, education and the economy of the NDC if it got the nod for a second term.
He was optimistic that the NDC would win at the first round.
