Dr Edward Mahama, Peoples National Convention (PNC) Presidential candidate, on Tuesday said his party would win the 2008 presidential elections come December 7th, judging from peoples' comments from his campaign tours so far.
"I asked some of my investigators to be on the ground and listen to peoples comments during my tour and the response they gave me was that, they prefer the Northerner because he is more honest," he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on his return from the Brong Ahafo Regional tour.
He also said he was personally impressed with peoples' responses during meetings in the halls of towns he visited where some people even confirmed to him that his messages were more practical than other candidates.
Dr Mahama was in the Brong Ahafo last week to reach out to the rural farmers and share with them ideas that could help them develop themselves.
"When I went to the villages, what I realized was that my political counterparts were taking advantage of the ignorance of people especially those in the rural areas."
He said the PNC's main message was "Economic Independence Now," because the party was determined to use agriculture to help the economy grow.
Dr Mahama expressed concern about the perception of some people that, the PNC could not win this year's elections and explained that, it was only a few people who went about deceiving people.
"The People's National Convention is a well organized national political group with a clear cut programme that lays claim to the Nkrumaist heritage," he said calling on Ghanaians to vote massively for the party on December 7, 2008.
