Ms. Aisha Sulley Futa, aspiring Greater Accra regional Women's Organiser of the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Friday urged women to develop their political potentials to meet the challenges of democratic development.
"In spite of the exhausting demand of politics, and the chores of motherhood, caring for kids, husbands and other undertakings, family duties that necessity imposes on women, we need to manage our resources and time to upgrade our level to compete with our male counterparts for political positions," she stated.
Ms Sulley Futa told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra that Elections 2008 offers Ghanaians the opportunity to elect more women into responsible position to ensure equity.
She noted: "We have always supported our male counterparts in all the political directions, its now time for them to support us to move forwards."
The CPP Aspiring Women Organiser called on women to join the CPP because it is the only party with humane policies capable of redeeming the nation.
She said Election 2008 belongs to the CPP, and that "all must join the winning team, its now time for all of you who joined other parties during the ill-fated Progressive Alliance era with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the Great Alliance with the New Patriotic Party (NPP)."
Ms Sulley Futa said the previous leadership of the Nkrumaist political parties "led us into these two unproductive alliances without telling us the duration of the alliances".
"Its time for us all to come home to our mother party and help it reclaim political power once again".
