President John Agyekum Kufuor continues his three-day tour of the Volta Region on Wednesday September 29 with addresses of durbars of chiefs and inauguration of developing projects.<br><br>
A programme released by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) said President Kufuor would address the Chiefs and elders of the Ho Asogli Traditional Area and inspect GETFUND projects at Ho Polytechnic on Wednesday morning. He would later commission a school project at Avenui-Awudome and address durbars of the chiefs and people of Worawora and Dambai.
On Thursday, the President would commission a water project at Nkwanta and address durbars at Kpassa, Kadjebi and Hohoe.<br> <br> He again on Tuesday inaugurated a 1.5 million Euros water project for three communities in the Ketu District of the Volta Region. KFW of Germany provided 90 per cent of the cost and the Ghana Government 10 per cent with five per cent from the HIPC funds. Nine boreholes have been pr9ovided for about 30,500 people from Dzodze, Penyi and Ehie jointly.<br><br> President Kufuor who inaugurated the project as part of his three-day official tour of the region said the government was concerned with the plight of rural dwellers especially women who had to walk long distances for water that were polluted and unwholesome. He said the government had identified provision of potable water as priority in providing better health care especially in the rural areas. President Kufuor said it behoved on the beneficiary communities to ensure that investments made were protected to serve them for very long periods.<br> <br>
Mr Peter Linder, the German Ambassador, appealed to the people to ensure that the facilities were well protected to prolong their life span. He said about 13 million Euros had been earmarked by the German Government for development projects in Ghana between 2001-2006 and most of the funds had already been provided.
