Former Black Galaxies and Accra Great Olympics head coach Annor Walker has passed away after a short illness at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
His death has been deeply mourned by the Ghanaian football community, where he was widely respected for his dedication, tactical acumen, and passion for the game.
Walker’s coaching career spanned several prominent Ghanaian clubs, including Great Olympics, Nania FC, Kpando Hearts of Lions, and Berekum Chelsea.
He held a CAF License A and is best remembered for leading Nania FC to their historic 2011 MTN FA Cup victory over Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium—a landmark achievement in his coaching journey.
In 2020, Walker returned to Great Olympics as head coach, where he assembled one of the club’s strongest squads in recent memory.
Despite battling health challenges, he continued to lead from the sidelines, guiding the team into the upper ranks of the Ghana Premier League—a testament to his resilience and commitment.
Beyond club football, Walker also managed the Ghana Black Galaxies, steering the team to the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in Algeria.
His leadership on the international stage further cemented his legacy as a respected figure in Ghanaian football.
Annor Walker is fondly remembered for his sharp eye for emerging talent and his lasting contributions to the development of football in Ghana.
His legacy will endure through the many players he mentored and the teams he helped shape throughout his impactful career.
