Asante Kotoko has announced the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as interim head coach, following the departure of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The club confirmed the changes in a statement released on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as part of a broader technical restructuring aimed at revitalizing their season after a string of poor performances.
“Asante Kotoko SC is pleased to announce key changes to the club’s technical leadership as part of an ongoing strategic restructuring,” the statement read.
Karim Zito, a former player and head coach of the club, has been named the new Technical Director and will also serve as Acting Head Coach until a permanent replacement is appointed. Zito brings a wealth of experience, having guided Dreams FC to a historic CAF Confederation Cup semi-final and led Ghana’s U-20 team to the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations title.
Joining him is Prince Yaw Owusu, who steps in as Assistant Coach. With over 20 years of coaching experience across Ghana, Sudan, and the United States, Owusu has held roles at Medeama SC, Inter Allies, and Khartoum National Club, among others.
He's also known for developing players who have gone on to feature for top European clubs such as AC Milan, Genoa, Sassuolo, and Fiorentina.
Additionally, Malik Jabir, the club’s former Technical Director, has been appointed Technical Advisor, providing strategic support for Kotoko’s long-term vision.
The club emphasized that these appointments reflect a renewed commitment to building a visionary technical team capable of delivering sustained competitive success.
Asante Kotoko, currently on a four-game winless streak, will aim to bounce back when they face Aduana Stars this Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
