Mr Samuel Obodai, MP for Agona West, has called on candidates of the various political parties contesting the December 2004 elections to refrain from insults against their opponents when they mount platforms.
He said there was the need for the candidates to talk about issues and urged Ghanaians to reject those who exhibited "insulting behaviour and character assassination".
Mr Obodai accompanied by the five-member interim constituency executives of the NPP gave the advise at separate rallies at Agona Nkum, Nyakrom, Nyame Ndam, Amponsah-krom, Kwamang and Bobikuma.
He said the NDC had nothing to offer Ghanaians after their two decades rule and urged the electorate to vote massively for President Kufuor and parliamentary candidates of the NPP.
Mr Obodai stated that he used the MP's share of the Common Fund to build a wall round the Swedru Government Hospital, construction and rehabilitation of class-room blocks, provision of scholarships to brilliant but needy students and support for other projects.
Mr Kojo Amoakwa, former NDC organiser at Amponsakrom who had defected to the NPP, gave the assurance that he would work hard to ensure victory for President Kufuor and the NPP parliamentary candidate in the December 2004 elections.
He appealed to the MP and the District Assembly to construct a bridge over a stream, which cuts off the people of the area from the rest of the constituency.
Mr Debrah Lamptey, Secretary of the interim executive, said the good policies of the government resulted in the significant improvement in cocoa production this season .
He said the government would continue to adopt programmes that would enhance development and improve the lives of the people.
