Asante Kotoko's head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, believes every team in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) has an equal shot at winning the title this season.
Despite his confidence in the Porcupine Warriors' ability to clinch the trophy, he refrains from underestimating the potential of any competing team.
In an interview with the club's website, Coach Ogum shared his perspective on the upcoming season, acknowledging the competitive nature of the league.
"It will be very difficult because almost all of them are good teams. I think almost all of them, so I don't want to downplay any of them, so we leave it like that," he said.
Coach Ogum emphasised that the presence of each team in the top-flight league is a testament to their capabilities and potential to win the title.
The Porcupine Warriors coach, who guided the club to a league victory in the 2021/22 season, faced significant challenges upon his return to the club last season, finishing eighth on the league ladder.
This performance led to unrest among the fans, but the coach remains optimistic about the future. He has promised to build a formidable team for the upcoming season, expressing confidence in the new recruits' readiness to compete at the highest level.
Looking ahead to their opening game against Karela United, he anticipates a tough match by reflecting on their previous encounters last season and he noted, "Matches between Karela and Kotoko have not been easy at all, from their time at Anyinase to going to Tamale.
Last season, they took four points out of the six, so this coming season I'm sure it's going to be a very big game, especially being the first game. We need to be very prepared and make sure we get there and get the job done."
Speaking on the upcoming league fixtures, the coach sounded confident that with what they had done and added that so far, they had to be ready and in good shape to play any team at any time.
“We have to be ready to meet any of these teams at any time anywhere we should be able to play them and get the results.”
