Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has stated there will always be controversy over who the Black Stars Captain is and has called for future captains of the team to be well prepared before taking up the mantle.
He said this in his speech delivered at a sports psychology lecture at the University of Ghana where he served as a guest lecturer.
After touching on his experience competing at his first major international tournament with the Black Stars to losing his second AFCON Final in 2015, Dede Ayew addressed the touchy subject of the Black Stars captaincy. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“There will always be a debate sooner or later. The next one who is coming, there will be another debate, the next one who is coming in the next 10 years, there will be another debate so that’s how it is. Anybody who tomorrow, is going to be the leader of our national team should be ready for it; that’s because you can’t take it away. There are things you just need to learn from, prepare and let it brush off.”

Dede Ayew is a free agent after playing out the 2023-2024 season with French Ligue 1 side Le Havre where he scored six goals in 20 appearances.
