Former Black Stars head coach, C.K. Akonnor, has stated that Ghana stand a better chance of qualifying to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He said this after Ghana bagged back to back wins over Mali and Central African Republic (CAR) in the last round of qualification games.
Ghana beat Mali 2-1 in Bamako and followed it up with a pulsating 4-3 win over CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne TV, Akonnor, who managed the Black Stars from 2020 to 2021 was confident of Ghana’s qualification chances stating,
“Going forward, we’ve shown a lot of good signs. How we attack, how we create chances to score goals. So I strongly believe that there is a lot of things we can do in the near. Of course, that is our goal. Nothing should stop us. Of course we have opponents like Mali and CAR, they all want to get there but we stand a better chance.”
