BBC Football Reporter Simon Stone paid his tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton: "You only have to listen to the things that he's done and things he's won to realise that Bobby Charlton deserves a place at the top of the game. He's one of the greatest footballers of all time.
"I was fortunate to be in a presentation that Manchester United gave when on tour in South Africa to Nelson Mandela. Clearly Nelson Mandela is one of the most revered humans of recent memory, and even he was delighted to meet Bobby Chartlon, his eyes sparkled because he was speaking to Bobby Charlton.
"That is the measure of Sir Bobby Charlton. He wasn't just a brilliant footballer, he wasn't just a Munich survivor, he was also someone who captivated the very highest people within the human race but also ordinary people as well. That's what seperates him from everyone else."
