According to him, the GFA boss deserves a second term to enable him to complete the several projects initiated under his administration.

Mr. Owusu made the comment on Wednesday, July 26, on Angel Floodlight Sports televised on Angel TV saying: “President Kurt Okraku should be maintained as the FA president for stability, for us to be able to see some of the fruits of his undertaking policies and for those who are critical of him to have a better basis to judge him.”

He continued: “In his first term, he lost two years to COVID-19, so he only used two years to work. So, when given another four years and one criticize him, the person knows that morally, he or she has all the basis to do that.”

He also mentioned that most vibrant FA bosses across the globe who are hailed for their outstanding performances have been at post for not less than a decade and hoped that delegates will do the needful at the elective congress.

“I keep saying that all the FA’s who are very proactive and outstanding in which we keep praising, none of them had reigned not less than 10 years, it takes time, and they need time to perform,” he said.

Mr. Okraku was elected in October 2019, after the reign of the interim Normalisation Committee headed by Dr. Kofi Amoah, following FIFA’s ban of then GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi for his involvement in an alleged corruption related activities.

Mr. George Afriyie, a former vice president of the association under the erstwhile Kwesi Nyantakyi administration and Mr. Kojo Yankah, a former Western Region Football Association (RFA) chairman have declared their intentions to contest in the presidential elections.

In 2021, Mr. Owusu was appointed as Safety and Security Officer for the 2021 AFCON Qualifier between Benin and Lesotho at the Porto Norvo-Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Cotonou, Benin.

Also, in May this year, Mr. Owusu together with Julius Ben Emunah were appointed as Security Officers for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup match between Asec Mimosas (Côte D'Ivoire) and U.S.M Alger (Algeria). The duo were tasked to ensure the smooth organisation of the match, which was played at the Bouaké Stadium on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

He has over six years experience in safety and security issues, covering games and tournaments for both CAF and FIFA.
