In the presence of one of the world's greatest sprinters, Asafa Powell, the budding sprinter outpaced his competitors to cross the finish line with a time of 10.13secs ahead of his main challenger, Sarfo Ansah (10.22secs) and Derrick Sarkodie (10.47secs).

It was a day for the University of Development  Studies (UDS) as the three top runners are from the Tamale-based educational institution.

Ansah, another familiar face who set the competition's record of 10.14secs in 2021 and also won gold in both 100m and 200m at the ECOWAS Athletics Championships in Kaduna, Nigeria, that same year, failed to stop the fast-improving sprinter.

Other winners
Beatrice Boakye, another product of UDS, finished with a time of 11.68secs to win the ladies’ race, followed by Grace Aduntira who clocked 11.90secs and Felicia Awudi, also of the UDS, who clocked 12.35secs.

In the other categories, Mahami Alhassan of TAMASCO romped to victory in a spectacular fashion when he won the boys Under-18 race with a time of 10.70secs, followed by Abdulai Salifu (10.82secs) and Abdul Majeed Abukari (10.95secs), while Comfort Akua Maye won the ladies’ category with a time of 13.23secs. She was followed by Ruth Naprieja with 13.28secs, and Asana Sulemana (13.98secs).

In the boys' Under-15 race, Prosper Lifumba emerged winner with a time of 11.91secs, followed by Sulemana Mohammed (12.05secs), and Tahidu Abdul Jabir (12.26secs).
In the girls' category, Rebecca Konja won with a time of 13.53secs, followed by Beatrice Saja  (13.76secs) and Mariam Abdul Rahaman (14.33secs).
