Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton, has rue the injuries to four players of the squad who could not travel with the team for the return leg fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Luanda today.
The team will be without four key players – Alexander Djiku, Andre Ayew, Mohammed Salisu and Denis Odoi— due to various injuries.
Speaking to Ghanafa.org, the 64-year-old coach said their absence was a big blow to the team since they were very experienced players in the team.
The coach understands these players’ absence could disrupt his plans especially Odoi and Djiku who started in the first leg game but believed it was an opportunity for other players to also prove themselves in the team.
“Their absence is a loss to the team because they are not only players in the squad but they are players who have been around and been part of the squad for a while.
“But this is International football and this is why you have a squad prepared and always if its starters like in particular Denis Odoi and Alexander Djiku – both started then this is where you have a squad and it’s always an opportunity for somebody else", the ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss said.
