Boxing enthusiast and promoter, Alhaji Fadi Fattal, has tasked the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) to fashion out a league dedicated to amateur boxing to sustain the growth and development of the sport in the country.
He said such an initiative would have the strong backing of his outfit, Imax Media and TV, to attract the youth to boxing.
“Soon, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and Imax Media will unveil a development fund that seeks to raise the profile of the sport on the continent and will also benefit amateur boxing, and also serve as the foundation for the development of the discipline on the continent,” he revealed.
Alhaji Fattal said this when he hosted members of the Black Bombers who took part in the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham at the Imax Media Offices at Odorkor in Accra last Friday.
The Group Director of Imax Media charged the Black Bombers to be loyal to their trainers and managers to help chart successful career paths.
“From my experience, boxers and footballers are the most ungrateful people. I’m sorry for saying this because you guys are young but that is the reality; I charge you to be different,’ he stated.
Alhaji Fattal congratulated the Bombers for their impressive showing at the games and lauded the medalists, while urging them to strive harder and go for gold in the African Games and the next Olympic Games.
