The two athletes, who are expected to leave for the Birmingham Games today, were in high spirits when the Graphic Sports contacted them.

"We are not going to be a walk in the park, we are going to bring a medal and we are targeting gold," they assured.

Twenty-three-year old Juliena and 26-year old Rashaka, an Army Officer, qualified to represent Africa at the Commonwealth Games after defeating 13 other countries in the female category.

Rashaka, who participated in the 2017 Youth Beach Volleyball World Championships, said their morale was quite high because their training towards the Games had been excellent.

"We have played together for a very long time and we know what we have to do to get the gold. Our coach is very dedicated and knowledgeable and has taken us through a lot of grooming," she revealed.

For his part, Coach Moro Mumuni said nothing could stop the two from winning gold.

"God determines everything but we have done everything to perfection and we will win a medal in this competition," he said.

He pointed out that the duo had gone through the rudiments and other drills, including training sessions under extreme weather conditions, to enable them to excel in all conditions.

He called for support from Ghanaians to help the team to get the first beach volleyball medal for Ghana.
