Wisdom School dominated in both the boys and girls categories in the ceremonial gala organised by FC Ingoldstadt midfielder, Hans Nunoo Sarpei, through his HN Sarpei Foundation.

The four-school gala saw Adedenkpo 1&2 Primary, Wisdom Preparatory, Independence Avenue 2 Primary and Private Odartey Primary participating.
Wisdom School took home a trophy and medals for winning the boys category. The girls also received medals for beating Adedenkpo 4-3 on penalties in the final.

As part of the HN Sarpei Foundation Summer Donations, Sarpei presented sets of jerseys, socks and footballs from Ingolstadt, bibs, and 1,800 pieces of branded exercise books to the participants.

He told the Daily Graphic that his foundation was focused on giving back to the community where he grew up playing football barefooted.

“This is an initiative to give back to the community in which I grew up and I am very humbled to see these young ones play football. I have been in their shoes before and understand what it takes to get to the top, so I want them to know that they can achieve higher heights with determination,” he said.

Anthony Baffoe, General Secretary of the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG), hailed Sarpei’s decision to give back to society and called on other footballers from the community to emulate his shining example.

For his part, the Deputy German Ambassador to Ghana, Helge Sander, praised the initiative by the HN Sarpei Foundation to educate the youth on the need to combine education and football.

“This is a very good subject that must not be disregarded because footballers must know the benefit of education even if they want to choose sports as their only career,” Mr Sander noted.
