The management of Division One League (DOL) side, Kotoku Royals FC has appealed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to provide maximum security for the club’s crucial and final league match against Tema Youth at the Tema Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The vice-president of Kotoku Royals, Asamoah Frimpong made the appeal through the Daily Graphic at Akyem Oda last Sunday, saying their request had become imperative in view of what he claimed to be intimidating tactics Tema Youth had been adopting against visiting clubs in a bid to put fear in them.
Mr Frimpong cited, for example, a recent league match between Tema Youth and Liberty Professionals at the Tema Stadium when hooligan fans of the home team brutally assaulted the referee and also intimidated supporters of the visiting side.
Kotoku Royals lead the DOL zone 3 league table with 62 points, followed in second position by Liberty Professionals with 61 points while Tema Youth occupy the third position with 59 points, with all three teams in a position to qualify for the elite division.
Mr Frimpong said he was confident Kotoku Royals, who defeated Tema Youth 2-0 in their first round encounter at the Oda Sports Stadium, would repeat the dose at Tema on Sunday to qualify to the Ghana Premier League.
He, therefore, appealed for maximum security for the playing body, club officials and officials on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has chartered 10 big buses to convey supporters of Kotoku Royals supporters from Oda to Tema free of charge to cheer their club to victory on Sunday.
