Bradley Dack's third goal in two games gave Blackburn a narrow win against Brentford.
Dack, who now has nine for the season, swept in Stewart Downing's first-time cross from the left to give Blackburn a third successive home win.
Brentford, looking to move into the Championship play-off places, were second best for much of the night but did hit the crossbar through Said Benrahma's whipped free-kick in the second half.
Danny Graham should have sent Rovers into the break two up but he headed over, again from a cross from the recalled Downing.
Brentford stepped up in the second half with Rovers midfielder Lewis Travis clearing off the line from Pontus Jansson's header and Christian Norgaard went close for the Bees with a curling effort that flashed across the goal.
Adam Armstrong almost sealed the match but Bees keeper David Raya tipped his rising drive over the bar.
Rovers move up to 13th, while Brentford remain eighth after failing to find the net on the road for the first time in four games.
Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"We showed what a good side we can be. The first half particularly we were good with the ball. The goal epitomised that - a really good goal.
"It cut them open and Dack gets in the six-yard box. He is a brilliant player to have that desire to get into the box and score.
"Sometimes in a game, five or six play well and there are a few under par, but just about all of them were right up there with performance levels. And we needed to be against a really good side.
"I have a brilliant set of individuals who really care and really fight for each other and are desperate to do well, and I'm just pleased for them."
Brentford boss Thomas Frank told BBC Radio London:
"We started a bit slowly, they got their goal and we had to chase the game but we created enough chance have scored an equaliser at the least, especially in the second half.
"What we need to learn is when we perform well enough, we need to get a draw once in a while or nick a win. We're not far away. Another day we probably would have got something.
"Sometimes it's margins, in terms of hitting the post and it doesn't go in and sometimes it's maybe a bit of experience. Play the chances a bit cooler. Don't rush it.
"But we know the atmosphere in the Championship. It's a very quick game and physical. We're quite a young side and we're playing against very experienced players."
