Mr. Abdul Haye Yartey, President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), remains hopeful of bagging some medals at the 73rd edition of the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IFBB), World Bodybuilding Championship.
The Championships set to kick start on November 8 – 10 in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates would see the ''Black Muscles'' of Ghana presents three athletes: Godwin Frimpong, Derrick Marley and Peudam Abubakar as they compete for laurels in their respective categories.
According to Mr. Yartey, this year’s Championships would offer the athletes the needed exposure on the international stage especially having excelled on Africa continent.
“The athletes are well conditioned for the Championships. This is our first participation in the World Championship and it would certainly not be easy, looking at the competition we likely to face from other countries.
The main target is to give the boys the needed exposure and it would help them gain the necessary experience and hopefully in the future tournaments we can bag some medals but we would be surprise to get some good positions in the Championships,'' he said.
The Black Muscles would also be aiming for a splendid outing which earns them a Pro Card when the three day event gets underway at the Zayed Sports Complex on Friday.
