With few days to kick start the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled from June 21 and end on July 19, the GNA Sports will delve deep into the six match venues that will be used for the competition.
With this, we would reveal which teams are playing in each stadium, a brief history about the stadium and many other intriguing things.
Cairo International Stadium
The Cairo International Stadium (CIS) Located in Nasr City, Giza, would host the group opener of this year's AFCON as the Pharaohs of Egypt lock horns with Zimbabwe in what promises to be a thrilling opener with millions across the globe watching.
The CIS would host five Group A matches with DR Congo and Uganda who are the other Group A teams, whilst the June 6 Stadium would host sixth match in Group A game due to the simultaneous kick off times.
CIS is the largest stadium among others with an all-seated capacity of 75,000 and would not only host the opener but a round of 16 clash, a quarter-final, a semi-final and the finals of this year's tournament.
The CIS which was opened in 1960 has lots of AFCON memories having hosted numerous AFCON finals.
Beside its AFCON memories, CIS has also hosted the finals of major tournaments like the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where Ghana emerged victors as well as the 1991 All-Africa Games.
The CIS is the historic home ground for Al-Ahly, Zamalek and hosted many derbies between the two arch-rivals.
Alexandria Stadium
The Alexandria Stadium would host Group B games which would see the likes Nigeria, Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar in action.
Alexandria, called the Mediterranean city is the second largest city of Egypt, and has been a permanent co-host of sporting events alongside Cairo.
The 20,000 capacity stadium hosted the AFCON tournament in 2006 and has some fascinating memories.
Alexandria is regarded as the home of football with the first football game ever in Egypt played on its grounds.
Built in 1929, the stadium is considered the oldest football stadium in Egypt and Africa and is home for Egyptian Premier League sides, Al Ittihad, Smouha and Olympic Club,
The June 30 Stadium
The June 30 Stadium is located in Cairo and would host Group C matches at this year's AFCON with the teams including Senegal, Tanzania, Algeria and Kenya.
The June 30 stadium opened in 2012 is owned by the Egyptian Air Defense Forces and it is the home ground of Egyptian Premier League side, Pyramids.
The Stadium would not only host Group C matches, but a round of 16 match, a quarter-final and one semi-final match in this year's tournament.
The stadium has capacity of 30,000 the one of the largest stadium in Egypt aside the CIS.
Al Salam Stadium
The stadium built in 2009 would host the group matches for Group D teams which include Morocco, Namibia, Ivory Coast and South Africa.
The 30,000 capacity Al- Salam Stadium located in Cairo would witness some thrilling matches in a group touted as the group of death.
The stadium would host seven group matches one round of 16 match and a quarter-final in this year's competition.
Suez Stadium
The 27,000 seated stadium would host Group E teams which includes Tunisia, Angola, Mali and Mauritania.
It would be the first time the stadium would host an International tournament after it was opened in 1990.
It is the home ground of the city's local teams which includes, Asmant El-Suweis, Petrojet and Montakhab el-Suez.
The stadium would host five Group E matches, a round of 16 match, a quarter-final and one semi-final match.
The Ismailia Stadium
Ismailia Stadium would host Group F matches at this year's AFCON with the teams including Cameroon, Ghana, Benin and Guinea-Bissau all in action.
Known as the city of arts of and football, Ismailia is one of the most beautiful cities in Egypt and is located in the North East of the country.
The stadium has capacity of 18,000-seated and it's the home ground of Egyptian Premier League side, Ismaily SC.
It must however be noted that, this year's AFCON would certainly not have a problems associated with poor pitches because all six different stadia have excellent pitches and football fans around the globe would certainly see the best display of African footballing skills.
