Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports (MOYS) urged Senior High School (SHS) leavers to work hard in order to succeed in life.
Mr. Asiamah said this when he visited his Alma Mater, Accra High School to induct the SHS leavers into the Old Students Association (ONUKPA) family.
According to the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua constituency, he being the Youth and Sports Minister, it was very prudent he sounded a word of caution to the many youth out there who have completed their SHS exams and were ready to face the realities of life.
He said “these young ones need words of encouragement and advice, which would go a long way to shaping their career paths and major decisions to be made in life, that would benefit them, their families and the nation at large.
“I am happy to be here as a Member of Parliament and as a Minister of Youth and Sports, where Youth development falls in my mandate.
“You have learnt a lot that would shape you for the future and that should propel you for higher heights, but remember that no matter your background, you would make it in life with perseverance,” he added.
“As you leave school today, some of you may be admitted into the tertiary, others may start businesses and others would join the security services, others would become professional athletes and all these opportunities should be embraced with open arms.
“The most important thing is for you to strive to get up to the top of life’s ladder, where you have to follow your passion but not riches, because your passion would take you to your destination.
“No matter where you tart from, challenges, threats and peer pressure would come but be guided by your passion and that would drive that success story, desist from social vices, which would ruin your life and marry your books and give birth to success,” he said.
Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Baidoo, Headmaster for Accra High School said the idea of inviting Mr. Asiamah to have a talk with the students was to fraternize as an old student and also to give advice to completing students and induct them into the old students’ association “ONUKPA” family.
