Mr. Frederick Assor, the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Para Athlete of the Year has paid a courtesy call on Madam Esther Akua Gyamfi, the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPD), at the Office of the President Annex in Accra.
The visit was to present the award to the Council and also seek their support for future competitions.
Mr. Assor was in the company of Alhaji Shaaban Mohammed, Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation and Chairman of Para Sports Stakeholders Forum.
Madam Gyamfi congratulated Mr Assor for his achievements, adding that, the Council was proud of him.
She assured him of the Council’s would support him in every endeavour of his career.
She said the Council was committed to ensuring the growth of para sports in the country and that they were aware of the challenges Para Sport was facing.
Madam Gyamfi said, they were working to address all challenges including financial difficulties.
She said that, for his achievement, Mr Assor would be acknowledged at this year's National Day for Persons with Disability scheduled for June 23, in all the regions across the country.
Mr Assor thanked the Council for their warm reception and promised to bring more success to the country and the sport by working harder.
