Facing Southern Zone B opponent Dreams in their first match of the competition and in the presence of some hardcore fans of the club, it was winger Obeng Kwadwo Junior who made the difference between the two sides.

His 47th minute solo effort, which started with a dribble few metres away from the goal area and culminated into a beautiful goal, got many spectators up on their feet in excitement and expectant of more till the end of the match.

Both teams struggled to piece passes together and control early exchanges in the first half but Dreams, who wanted to control the game, looked disorganised, while the homesters relied on long passes but their finishing was poor.

Hearts nearly fetched the opener in the 41st minute when Kwadwo Obeng Junior dribbled into the area but failed to beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoakoh.

Two minutes after recess, Hearts got the opener when Obeng Kwadwo latched onto the ball from the left, dribbled past two defenders into the area before kicking a low drive into the net.

Dreams woke up from their nightmare after the goal and pounded the Hearts area using their lethal man and former Hearts player, Eric Gawu, to do the hatchet job, but the striker failed to find his rhythm on many occasions.

On the 76th minute when Gawu finally found some space on the right, his beautiful cross, which beat Hearts goalkeeper Richmond Ayi, was blasted away by fellow attacker Richard Addai who had the empty net at his mercy.

The visitors kept probing for the equaliser and forced the host to defend several set pieces with their entire team.

Hearts stood resolute in their defence until the blast of the final whistle.
