Mr. John Smith Bannerman, a member of the 1983 squad of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has urged the players of the club, to remain focused ahead of their game against Coton Sports Goroua of Cameroon, in the second leg of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Confederations Cup competition, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
Mr. Bannerman, who was part of the squad that 1983 Africa Clubs Championship, said in an interview that, "Kotoko is yet to qualify in football terms, so the players must have it in mind that, they are yet to start the game all over again.
"That mentality would propel them to win the game against Coton Sport on Sunday," he added.
According to Mr. Bannerman, "Kotoko players must be united, serious, listen to their coaches instructions on and off the pitch and that will help them a lot in the competition".
He urged the players train hard and aim high adding that, that was the secret behind their success in 1983.
Kotoko, defeated the Cameroonian side 3-2 in the first leg in Cameroon and are in pool position to make progress to the group stages of the competition.
