He had been acting as Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) for the past eight months but at a meeting of the NSA governing board on Wednesday November 28, 2018, it was unanimously decided that he should be made a substantive head.
A letter signed by the board chairman of the authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang which has been seen by Graphic Online noted that the board has been watching with keen interest his performance as a deputy Director General and after eight months in an acting capacity as Director General, the board has come to the conclusion that he distinguished himself and discharged his duties creditably.
The letter added that his confirmation will enable him to have the peace of mind and the courage to take difficult but necessary decisions in the performance of his administrative functions to the benefit of the authority and sports in general.
Speaking to Graphic Online, Abdul-Majeed Bawa said he will discharge his duties dispassionately and treat all sporting disciplines equally.
He expressed gratitude to the board for reposing confidence in him and promised to put Ghana sports on the highest pedestal in the annals of the country's history.
