Algeria's women national football team suffered a 2-1 loss away to Cote d'Ivoire in a friendly as they stepped-up their preparations for their AWCON 2018 opener against hosts Ghana.
Coach Radia Fertoul's squad are rounding off their preparations by acclimatising in Abidjan and are expected to trim-down their 24-woman squad later in the week before travelling to Ghana.
Forward Myriam Benlazar scored the Algerian's only goal in the match which came off on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
The Algerians have been struggling for goals since an ankle injury ruled out star striker Naïma Bouhenni from the tournament.
The "Fennecs" as they are nicknamed are in Group A alongside hosts Ghana, Cameroon and Mali. They head into the Championship as the eighth-ranked women's team in Africa.
They will play the Black Queens of Ghana in the AWCON 2018 opener on November 17, 2018, at Accra Sports Stadium.
