Women in Sports Association (WISA), has commended the national under-20 female team, the Black Princesses for winning their last match against New Zealand, after two losses in the group stages of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-20 World Cup in France.
Madam Gloria Commodore, Executive Director of WISA in a statement said, though the team failed to qualify to the next stage of the competition, her outfit was proud of their achievements.
The statement said, “the girls were never disgraced because they did not get the needed preparations, but put up an impressive performance. "They did not play any international trial match, neither were they motivated nor inspired by anyone except themselves."
She said, they did well by winning 1-0 against New Zealand, after losing 1-4 to host nation France and 0-4 to Holland. She also called on the football authorities to appoint female coaches for all the female teams as that would be better for easy communication.
