Egypt international Salah has scored 24 goals in 31 appearances for Liverpool following his transfer from Roma in the summer.

And Gomez told the official Liverpool website: "Even when the out ball isn't on, it's not on because they're scared of him doing it so then it creates more space into feet.

"He has built a reputation that everyone is wary of. They know if they give him a few yards it's going to give them a problem.

"It's a massive bonus for us -- and it has showed with some of the counter-attacks we have scored from this season. It's another side to the game that can help us be a better team.

"It's nice to play alongside him on the right flank -- you feed him the ball and let him do what he does.

"He has been outstanding for us, and I think he'll continue to keep scoring the way he does because it's not just luck -- it's his ability and his eye for goal.

"On the ball, he makes his own space whether with his skill or his strength because he holds people off very well.

"When you give it to him, nine times out of 10 he is creating something or keeping the ball. He is world-class -- he has proved that."

Meanwhile, Alberto Moreno has said he is determined to win back the starting left-back spot when he returns to full fitness.

Moreno has been out since early December with an ankle injury that has allowed summer signing Andrew Robertson to thrive on the left flank.

"You've got to be absolutely honest and sincere and say that he's doing really, really well," Moreno said.

"He's put in some great performances and played some great matches.

"It was tough for him at the start of the season, not being involved, I'm sure. It's also never easy to come into the first team mid-season, so I think he's coped with that really well.

"It's always tough to get your place in the first team at Liverpool Football Club.

"Obviously, as a result of my injury, he has taken his chance and grabbed it with both hands.

"But I'm training really hard now and determined to do all that I possibly can through hard work to try and win my place back."
