Mr Paul Opoku-Nsowah, Presiding Member of Nkoranza South District Assembly, has urged Assembly Members and Unit committees to collaborate and mobilize the people to initiate development programmes.
He was speaking on behalf of Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, District Chief Executive (DCE), at the inauguration of Unit Committees of the
Nkoranza Town and Akumsa Domase Area Councils.
The Presiding Member said the government appreciated the efforts of communities “that undertake self help projects” as it showed the
commitment of the people to improving their lifestyles.
He said such communities receive support from the Government and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
Mr Opoku-Nsowah advised the Unit Committees to encourage the people to honour their tax obligations to mobilize more revenue for the District Assembly to develop the communities.
The Presiding Member also cautioned the Unit Committees not to play politics with their activities as that could divide the people,
which would affect the development of the communities.
He called on the electorate to support the Assembly and the Unit Committees to encourage them to perform creditably.
Unit Committees should advise the people to keep their surroundings clean and to avoid indiscriminate tree felling and bushfires.
Mr Opoku-Nsowah commended the Unit Committee for offering to serve their communities voluntarily and urged them to maintain the spirit.
