Brother Enoch I.A. Agbozo, Leader of Ghana Evangelical Society, on Wednesday said the prevailing peace in Ghana that would permeate through the entire African Continent was through divine intervention.
He said “Ghana is leading the crusade for peace in Africa through divine intervention because God has restrained the powers of darkness that brought instability and chaos on the continent.”
Bro. Agbozo was delivering the sermon at the 14th Africa Day Church Worship Service jointly organised by the Enoch Mission and Ghana Evangelical Society (GES) as part of activities marking the African Union (AU) Day in Accra.
It was on the theme: “Africa Behold the King of Kings and Lord of Lords”.
The service has been organised since 1997 at the behest of God to celebrate the Creator and Africa’s hope for the reconciliation, redemption and restoration of glory to Africa.
Celebration of AU Day is in consonance with the AU Declaration adopted at its 12th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in 2009 to make 2009-2018 the Decade for Youth Development in Africa.
The theme for this year’s celebration of AU Day is “Accelerating Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”.
Bro. Agbozo explained that the prevailing peace in Ghana was a beacon for Africa through divine intervention and not good governance, political systems such as democracy, human rights, economic development, increase in infrastructure and institutions, education, health or social facilities.
“The new dawn is a divine act of mercy and reconciliation with God. God has heard the woes of Africa and want to redeem the Continent and unite Africans,” he added.
Rev. F.B. Dadson, Assistant Leaders of GES, said though much political achievements had been made since the establishment of OAU and now AU, Africa still had to grapple with complex problems.
He said Africa was now in a state of conflicts and tension, violence, wars, bloodshed and death that had brought much political instability and confusion, economic chaos and social distress.
Rev Dadson pointed out that efforts by mankind to build permanent, peaceful and righteous societies had rather promoted dishonesty, corruption, chaos, confusion.
He noted that Africa’s problems were basically spiritual and salvation and hope depended only on God through faith in Jesus Christ, adding “Lack of acknowledgement of God’s sovereign will, plans, and purpose in the affairs of Africa, have led to the current unfortunate situation.”
“God’s wish for Africa is a Continent reconciled, redeemed and restored to glory, free from wars where peace, righteousness, justice and liberty shall flourish. Africa where human life and human dignity are respected, honoured and cherished by all and sundry,” Rev. Dadson stressed.
