Egypt's Al-Nour Party, the political arm of the Salafists, announced Monday that they will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, which were set for April 22.
Speaking at a press conference, Bassam al-Zarqa, a leading figure in the Islamist party, said that "Completing the construction of the state institutions is a way to get out of the current political and economic crises that Egypt is passing through."
Zarqa urged all political forces to participate in the planned elections, calling on the Egyptian government to provide ways to guarantee the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
Earlier on Sunday, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi called for a national dialogue to be held on Monday to discuss ways to guarantee integrity of the upcoming elections.
