Manchester United's Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo said Wednesday he believes his side can still overcome runaway leaders Chelsea in the English Premiership title race.
"We know things are very complicated, Chelsea have carried out a very good campaign, they have been a very steady team," the teenager told Portuguese television station SIC.
"Obviously it will be complicated to reach first place. But I think hope is the last thing to die and we still have not thrown in the towel," he added.
Two second-half goals from Ronaldo rallied the Red Devils to a 4-2 victory over Arsenal Tuesday, virtually ending the Gunners' hopes of defending their title and ensuring that Manchester are now the only realistic challengers to Chelsea.
The result narrowed United's gap on Chelsea to eight points and gave them a two-point lead over third-place Arsenal. Everton are a distant fourth with 44 points, with four months of the season to go.
Chelsea can lose three of their remaining 14 games and still win their first league title in 50 years.
