Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kpandai Constituency have taken to the streets to celebrate a Supreme Court ruling that overturned the Tamale High Court’s annulment of the 2024 parliamentary election results in the constituency.
The decision by the apex court effectively reinstates the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Matthew Nyindam, as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Kpandai—an outcome party supporters have hailed as a victory for justice, the rule of law, and democratic accountability.
Chanting party songs and waving NPP flags, jubilant supporters said the ruling had restored their confidence in Ghana’s judicial system, insisting that the will of the people, as expressed at the polls, had now been upheld.
“This judgment has cleared all doubts. The people voted, and the Supreme Court has confirmed it. Matthew Nyindam remains our MP,” one supporter said.

Another resident described the ruling as reassuring, particularly given the composition and outcome of the court’s deliberations.
“The five-member panel examined the matter thoroughly and reached a 4–1 majority decision. That process and outcome reassure us that justice was served through careful consideration,” the supporter noted.
The celebrations were, however, followed by calls for calm and unity, with party faithful urging all political actors to respect the ruling and work together for the development of the constituency.
The NPP Constituency Organiser, Mr. Frank Donkor Wuladanye, described the judgment as a positive signal for Ghana’s judicial system and government reset agenda for broader national reforms.
“There is always room for improvement. If the judicial system recognises its shortcomings and takes steps to address them, it benefits the entire country,” he said, adding that institutional reforms should strengthen public confidence.

Mr. Wuladanye cautioned supporters to be measured in their celebrations and to maintain peace, urging residents of Kpandai to put political differences aside and focus on the collective development of the district.
