President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 71 individuals for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE), pending approval from their respective District Assemblies.

According to a statement issued on March 26 by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the nominations are in line with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Article 20(1) of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The nominees are distributed across various regions as follows:

Volta Region – 18 nominees

Oti Region – 9 nominees

Ahafo Region – 6 nominees

Bono Region – 10 nominees

Bono East Region – 9 nominees

Savannah Region – 5 nominees

North East Region – 6 nominees

Western North Region – 9 nominees

The nominated individuals will undergo vetting and confirmation processes by their respective District Assemblies in accordance with the law.
