The Paramount Chief or Osie of Avatime, Osie Adza Tekpor VII, has entreated the President, John Dramani Mahama, to focus on the duties handed over to him by the electorate and work without ceasing to reset the country and fix the economy.
He urged him to refrain from acts of vendetta against his political opponents and rather “remember that you have only four years and this is the reason you have to work hard to build a legacy, which future leaders will struggle to surpass”.
In a congratulatory message to the President, the Osie of Avatime said the decisive victory of President Mahama in the 2024 presidential election was an indelible event in the country’s political history.
“This is the first time in recent memory Ghanaians have been so quiet, yet delivered a decisive blow to the incumbent,” Togbe Adza Tekpor said.
He also commended the people of the Volta Region and Ghanaians in general, for the largely peaceful manner in which they voted.
The Osie said Mr Mahama’s patience in enduring eight years of vilification, lies, intimidation and untruths about him as a person and his job as a former President, did not go unnoticed by the good people of Ghana.
It entreated President Mahama to reform the district assemblies to include chiefs in the management of local resources and let them play active roles in the assembly.
Osie Tekpor VII further called on President Mahama to continue infrastructural projects initiated by the previous government.
