The President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, kickstarted his diplomatic engagements yesterday by hosting delegations from the European Union Commission, the Chinese Embassy and the Algerian Embassy in Accra.
It was his first major meeting since winning the presidential election last Saturday.
The EU delegation, which was led by Ambassador Irchad Razaaly, reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana's development.
He pledged the EU's continued support for Ghana's development, particularly in the light of the country's economic challenges.
The President-elect said the EU was a significant development partner of Ghana, providing support in areas such as economy, green energy and good governance.
He pledged to deepen ties with the EU and other development partners to ensure the revival of the economy.
Led by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, the envoy reassured the President-elect of the support of the Chinese government.
For his part, Mr Mahama emphasised the importance of cooperation with partners such as China in assisting the country out of its current economic challenges.
"We know the cooperation with Syno Hydro on various projects that were being implemented across the country.
“Unfortunately, the debt default has affected Ghana's credit rating in terms of our economy. So we will work to bring Ghana back again.
“This is the time Ghana needs to work closely with its development partners like China to accelerate the nation’s growth" he said.
The Algerian Ambassador to Ghana, Mourad Louhaidia, also expressed his country's eagerness to collaborate with the President-elect, John Mahama's administration.
“We really appreciate the level of cooperation and friendship between us,” Mr Louhaidia said.
The ambassador conveyed the willingness of the government of Algeria to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as African Union affairs and the promotion of peace.
The President-elect said his administration would engage in consultations with other governments on matters of mutual importance.
He expressed appreciation for Algeria's efforts in promoting peace in the sahel region, and reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to collaborate with Algeria to achieve peace and stability in the region.
