The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated its commitment to driving Ghana toward progress and prosperity following what it describes as a decisive victory in the December 7 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing at the party’s headquarters on Sunday, December 8, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey assured the public of the party’s readiness to responsibly utilise its newly acquired mandate for the benefit of the nation.
“We have secured a very significant majority and a majority that we aim to use responsibly and for the progress of the people of Ghana,” Mr Kwetey declared.
In his address, Mr Kwetey also urged the Electoral Commission (EC) and its Chairperson, Jean Mensa, to expedite the process of announcing the presidential results. He emphasised the NDC’s confidence in the outcome, noting that their victory of John Dramani Mahama was indisputable.
“The process as far as the presidential results is also concerned, we will urge the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, and her team to make sure the declaration is not unduly delayed because we know for a fact that nothing can be done about it because it is already in the bag,” he remarked.
The NDC has positioned this victory as a stepping stone to realising its vision of national development, promising to uphold the trust placed in them by the electorate.
The party said it will continue to monitor the electoral processes closely as the nation awaits the final declaration from the EC.
