The newly registered Action Alliance Party (AAP) has officially declared its support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 2024 General Election.
According to the AAP, its vision aligns with that of the NPP flagbearer, particularly regarding digitalisation and economic transformation.
A statement signed and issued by AAP founder and chairman, Namuru Tahiru, and copied to The Ghanaian Times, on Monday, said “Dr Bawumia’s vision for Ghana is closely aligned with our party’s vision. His commitment to digitalisation and economic transformation resonates deeply with our vision for a green economic transformation.”
The AAP received its final certification from the Electoral Commission on October 2, 2024, having satisfied all requirements, including establishing a presence across all 275 constituencies in the country.
The statement outlined the AAP’s comprehensive vision for Ghana, focusing on agricultural revolution, technological advancement, and educational reform.
The AAP advocates modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and the integration of technology in agriculture to enhance food security and farmer prosperity.
The statement emphasised the party’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance agricultural practices through smart farming initiatives, precision agriculture, and data analytics to optimise resource use and increase yield.
On education, “the party believes in a system that is not only accessible but also tailored to meet the demands of the 21st century through vocational training and STEM education to equip youth with needed skills to compete in the global market.
Warning against the opposition’s proposals, the AAP cautioned, “Voting for RESET would mean bringing DUMSOR back,” referring to the historical power outages that plagued the country. It added that “a reset is like the cancellation of teachers’ allowance” and “a reset means emptying your computer without a memory.”
The AAP stated the commitment of the party’s leadership, including National Executives, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives, and Council of Elders, to campaigning for Dr Bawumia and NPP parliamentary candidates across all constituencies leading up to the December 7 elections
