Uganda has put 21 districts that neighbour the Democratic Republic of Congo on high alert with intensified surveillance at border points after a 46-year-old woman died of Ebola in North Kivu province last week.
The health ministry said it would also consider vaccinating frontline workers.
Uganda has had a number of Ebola outbreaks - the most deadly was 22 years ago when 224 people died of the haemorrhagic fever.
Following the epidemic in West Africa between 2013 and 2016, when more than 11,000 people died, several vaccines were trialled, which have since been successfully used to fight outbreaks in DR Congo.
