Police in the Democratic Republic of Congo have arrested the leader of the Mai-Mai militia, Kambale Kabamba.

The arrest took place in North Kivu province.

The police had pursued him over his alleged involvement in deadly attacks in the area.

He will be handed over to a military tribunal.

The Mai-Mai militia are one of a host of militia groups operating in the east of DR Congo.
