Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril, West Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on students to continue to acquire knowledge even after graduation from school to improve their intellect and work environment.
He said learning is a continuous process and does not end after completing any tertiary institution adding "education does not stop after you graduate from college, or obtain an MBA or PhD degrees. Continuous learning holds the key to success".
Mr Jibril said if people stopped learning after they obtained any form of degree, progress in all endeavours would be static and this would create obstacles in our quest of for development.
He said this over the weekend at Damongo in the Savannah Region during the graduation ceremony of the Damongo Agricultural College where a total of 128 students comprising 98 males and 30 females were awarded with certificates.
Mr Jibril said modernization of agriculture has been the focus of government as this would accelerate growth and quicken the pace to attain food security.
He said the various policies of the government could not be realized if agricultural students are not well trained to impart the right knowledge onto farmers and urged the graduates not to relent in their efforts to improve their lot and the entire society.
Mr Mohammed Nuhu Adam, Principal of the College, said due to the introduction of the degree programme in the College this year, the school is now in dire need of classroom blocks and accommodation for teachers and students.
He said the College was awarded the best institution under the Planting for Food and Jobs at the 2019 District Farmers' Day awards.
Mr Adam said the College in partnership with GIZ has constructed a new farm machinery workshop and procured a new tractor and accessories to help improve teaching and learning.
He said the College has also started the commercial production of eggs and maize and expressed the hope that with the support of all stakeholders there would be improvement in teaching and learning.
